Every year, Memorial Medical Center Foundation hosts its annual gala with a ‘Dancing for Our Stars’ competition. In previous years, they garnered support through peer-to-peer fundraising strategies where the dancers would have their own pages and reach out to their networks to ask for donations. In 2018, they were looking for an easier way to collect donations and expand their donor base.

To help Memorial Medical Center Foundation achieve its goals, the [GiveSmart] experts recommended setting up a keyword and using text-do-donate before, during, and after the event to make it easier to reach their constituents, expand their donor base, and encourage in the moment giving. During the event, attendees texted their donations using a keyword. With the live thermometer displayed on the main screen, they could see their donations in real-time, which created more excitement than they’d seen at the event prior.
